Terms of use
Last updated 13 October 2026
These are the rules for using Citylark, written in plain English. By using Citylark you agree to them. Questions? Email hello@citylark.app. How we handle your data is explained in our privacy policy.
Who can use Citylark
- You must be 16 or over. If you’re 16 or 17, some listings (18+ events and Nightlife) aren’t shown to you.
- Nightlife listings need you to be 18 or over and to pass an ID check with our checking partner.
- Give your real date of birth, keep your sign-in details to yourself, and have one account per person.
Listings and tickets
- Events and places come from venues, organisers, people’s suggestions and outside sources such as Ticketmaster and Wikidata. We check what we can, but details change. Check times, prices and age limits with the venue before you go.
- We don’t sell tickets. Ticket links take you to the venue, the organiser or a ticket seller, and their terms apply to anything you buy there. Questions about a ticket, a refund or a cancelled event go to whoever sold it.
- Listings marked “Promoted” are paid for by the venue or organiser. Paying never changes ratings or “Popular” labels.
Check-ins, points and ranks
- Only check in where you actually are. Check-ins confirm you’re nearby.
- Points and ranks are just for fun. They have no cash value and can’t be swapped, sold or transferred.
- If someone games the system (for example faking their location), we may remove their check-ins and points.
What you add
Memories (photos, videos and captions) are private to you. Ratings, quick tags and suggestions help everyone: we combine ratings anonymously and may use suggestions to add listings. You keep ownership of what you add, and you let us store and use it to run Citylark. Please don’t add anything that:
- is illegal, hateful, threatening, sexually explicit or violent;
- shows or names other people in a way they wouldn’t be happy with, or shares their private details;
- you don’t have the right to share (for example someone else’s photos);
- is spam, advertising or misleading.
We may remove anything that breaks these rules, and suspend accounts that keep breaking them.
Venues and event organisers
- Only list events and places you’re allowed to promote, and keep the details accurate and up to date.
- You’re responsible for your event: licences, safety, age checks at the door, and anything you sell.
- Set the right age (all ages, 16+ or 18+). Events built around alcohol must be 18+, and are only promoted to verified adults.
- We review listings before they go live and may refuse, change the category of, or remove a listing that breaks these terms.
Tokens
- Tokens pay for promotion on Citylark (featured days, weekends and the home banner). One token is worth £1 of promotion. They aren’t money: they can’t be swapped for cash or moved to another venue.
- Prices include VAT where it applies. Stripe takes the payment and emails you a receipt.
- Tokens you buy don’t expire. Free tokens (such as the launch offer or tokens earned from visits) expire after 12 months.
- If you change your mind, we’ll refund bought tokens you haven’t used if you ask within 14 days of buying them. Tokens spent on a promotion that has started can’t be refunded.
- If we remove a promoted listing because it broke these terms, we don’t refund the tokens spent on it. If a promotion doesn’t run because of a problem on our side, we give the tokens back.
Our service
- Citylark is free for people looking for things to do. We may add, change or remove features.
- We work hard to keep Citylark running, but we can’t promise it will always be available or free of mistakes.
Responsibility
Events and places on Citylark are run by other people, so we aren’t responsible for what happens there or for losses caused by changed or cancelled events. Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility where the law doesn’t allow it to be limited (for example for death or injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud), and nothing affects your legal rights as a consumer.
Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time from the Me page. We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, and we’ll tell you why unless the law stops us.
Changes and the law
If we change these terms in a way that matters, we’ll tell you in Citylark or by email before the change takes effect. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Nigeria or elsewhere, you keep any rights your local law gives you.
